Richard Hawkes, Chief Executive Officer of disability charity Scope, said:
Scope welcomes the Chancellor's announcement that a future Conservative government would protect Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payment (PIP) from a freeze to working-age benefits. Scope has been calling on the Government to protect this vital support.
Life costs more if you are disabled. Scope research shows that this adds up to on average £550 per month. This has a huge impact on disabled people's living standards.
The Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is the financial lifeline that disabled people rely on to live independently and meet these extra costs.
It's crucial that all parties now recognise the importance of protecting support for disabled people.
