There are lots of ways you can volunteer with us, using your skills and learning new ones. You will be supporting disabled people and their families.

From shop assistants to online community or employment service volunteers. We have a volunteer opportunity for everyone.

Our volunteer roles can give you a wide range of skills and experience. You could learn:

• customer service skills
• leadership and teamwork
• time management
• administration and office experience
• public speaking
• event organisation

Supporting our volunteers

We'll be there to support you from the start. All our volunteers will get:

• an induction
• training specific to your role
• continuous learning and development opportunities
• a dedicated Scope staff contact you can contact any time you need help
• work references, these can be given up to 2 years after you finish your volunteering with us

Expenses

We can reimburse you for agreed expenses dependent on your role. This will be agreed with your line manager before you start. 

Please make sure you keep your receipts, as you will be asked for these.

Flexible time commitment

We have a variety of volunteer roles to suit your situation and time commitments. Any time you can give volunteering with us will make a big difference. We appreciate all our volunteers.

Make volunteering work for you

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Volunteering in one of our shops can count towards your Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s (D of E) Award. You can fit volunteering in our shops around other time commitments like School or College.

We are an Approved Activity Provider for Volunteering in our retail shops, meeting the D of E’s activity standards.

Probation volunteering

We work with probation services, welcoming and supporting volunteers who are on the path to rehabilitation. We want to help them give back to their local community. Local probation and community payback services can find out more by contacting volunteering@scope.org.uk.

National Vocational Qualifications

Volunteering in one of our shops may give you the opportunity to complete a National Vocational Qualification. This is a nationally recognised external qualification and is available to Scope volunteers who meet the eligibility criteria.
