Cuba Bike Ride
18 - 26 November 2009
Scope is once again going back to Cuba, to cycle this fabulous country - on what promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime adventure
Cuba is the Caribbean's largest and least commercialised island, only 90 miles from Florida and yet politically and economically it couldn't be further from the USA.
On this fascinating biking challenge (starting and finishing in the captivating capital city of Havana) you'll cycle for an average of 70km for five days, deep in the Cuban countryside, over very varied terrain.
Some days will bring long flat runs but for the most part expect to tackle undulations - so prepare yourself for a spectacular challenge
Cycling brings you closer to the community than you could ever be if you were travelling by car or bus - and we really get the chance to get close to the real Cuba.
On arrival, there's time to explore Havana, with its spacious plazas and glorious Spanish architecture, before transferring to the northern foothills of the Sierra del Escambray Mountains.
We are asking you to raise £2,900 for Scope. It sounds like a lot of money and it will take time and planning, but we are here to help you with practical advice and ideas that we know will work.
We'll also provide a detailed fundraising pack including donation forms, event suggestions, sample letters, press releases, an ID badge and a t-shirt
To reserve your place, you need to send us your completed application form, the non-refundable entry fee of £199 (cheque made payable to Scope) and two passport photos.
