Fundraising tips

Fundraising for your event is a challenge in itself, but we're always on hand to help out!

When you sign up for your challenge, you will receive a detailed fundraising pack with information on many different ways to raise money. Here are just some ideas to get you thinking:

Personal sponsorship

Make a list of everyone you know and pass your sponsorship form around them. On all donations from UK taxpayers, Scope can claim Gift Aid back on their donation from the Inland Revenue boosting all donations by 28.2% without any extra cost to the donor.

Online sponsorship

There is now a new and easy way to collect your sponsorship using the internet. Visit www.justgiving.com/scope/raisemoney/ and follow the easy step-by-step instructions to set up your own personal sponsorship web page.

Organising events

These are a great way to raise money and provide entertainment at the same time for all your friends and family. There are many ideas but some of the favourites are barbecues, dinner parties, themed evenings, indulgence evenings.

Pub fundraising

Contact your local landlord to arrange quiz nights, race nights, pool tournaments, pub crawls.

Collections and raffles

Arrange a collection at your local supermarket or sports ground on a busy day. Collect prizes from local businesses and organise a raffle either publicly or privately. Please be aware that certain rules and regulations apply.

Sports event

Organise a sponsored walk or five-a-side football tournament. Or get your local gym involved and organise a spinathon or stepathon.

Company sponsorship

Ask your company whether they will sponsor you. Many companies now do matched giving where they will match your fundraising efforts up to a certain amount. Contact all your company's clients, suppliers and customers asking for sponsorship. Offer to give them publicity in return by contacting your local press or wearing their logo during your training.

School fundraising

Link in with your local school, perhaps your old school or where your kids or relatives attend, and organise a dress down day or perhaps a sponsored word search, and offer to talk to the children about Scope and your challenge in return.
