Run for Scope in 2010 and make this a special year
Running is a fantastic way to keep fit and taking part in running events gives you a fantastic feeling, and makes training worthwhile. If you add fundraising into this mix, you get a whole experience that you will want to repeat again and again!
Guy ran the Great North Run in 2009 and raised money for Scope. He ran because of the Great North Run's reputation for being a whole experience rather than just a half marathon. Also getting fit during the training was a great draw!
Why did you run for Scope?
I ran for Scope because I have cp. I was told I would never walk and my ambition is to run a marathon, so given this is the closest I've got Scope was the natural choice.
How did you find the fundraising?
Fundraising was easy, I used Just Giving. As I haven't done a sponsored event we contacted friends, family and business acquaintances and asked if they could help, and they were all very generous!
Did you enjoy the experience of training for and running the Great North Run?
Training definitely - at the start we could hardly run at all and by the end it was easy to look back and see our progress. Running the GNR yes, but it made me realise how under prepared I actually was.
Did you enjoy running for Scope?
Yes, I felt exceptionally proud of the charity and of what you guys do and exceptionally blessed to be able to run at all.
Would you run for Scope again?
You bet!
