  • Employment Support Allowance appeal

    After having sent all the paperwork and extra medical evidence in for an appeal in November I still hadn't heard anything so I spoke to the appeals person from my welfare rights team who had helped me fill the forms in yesterday and they advised me to ring the benefits people. Although the welfare rights person is acting on my behalf he said he wouldn't be able to phone as I wasn't with him to answer the security questions and give my permission for him to talk to them for me.

  • Back on the merry go round

    Well nearly 6 weeks after sending ESA form back I got home from being out today to find a letter from DWP. Shaking like a leaf I opened it to find I have been placed on contribution-based ESA and also placed in the work-related activity group without a medical.

  • Four weeks since I sent my ESA form back...

    Well it's 4 weeks since I sent my Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) form back and I'm still none the wiser as to what is happening as I haven't yet heard anything. On the advice of my local welfare rights I contacted Jobcentre Plus last Tuesday because due to a change in circumstances the date that I'd said on my form I wasn't available to do a medical had changed, as my consultant very kindly announced he was going on holiday for 3 weeks - the surgery I was having on the 3rd November has now been moved 6 weeks to the 8th December.

  • Atos - We Need Your Medical Questionnaire Urgently

    Well these Atos people certainly aren't very patient. At the weekend I received a letter dated 22nd September with a subject title "We Need Your Medical Questionnaire Urgently".

    Then it goes on to say on the 24th August we sent you a medical questionnaire to fill in and return to us, we have not received it.

    Yesterday I collected a letter from my doctor to go with the form though at the moment he hasn't said a great deal in my opinion, but now the forms are in the post so Atos will be happy.

  • ‘The waiting game’ from Incapacity Benefit to Employment Support Allowance

    Nearly lunch time that means the postman should be here soon, oh good there’s the rattle of the letterbox I wonder what exciting things or junk mail I’ve got today.

    Oh how that excitement suddenly disappeared when I saw a brown envelope face down with the words if undelivered please return to Department of Work and Pensions.
