    As a disabled person, I’ve always tried not to let my impairment get in the way of the things I’ve wanted to do in my life, and so far this philosophy seems to have worked, but like thousands of other disabled people in the UK I’m worried. I’m worried that if planned Government cuts get the go ahead, I may lose the independence I’ve come to value so much.

    I write to you now on my 10th day of solitary confinement, penned up in my 7th floor cell. No, this is not the remake of Papillon, my name is not Steve McQueen but like him I have committed no crime and like him when he did his bout of solitary, I have stubble to rival Desperate Dan.

    With minutes to go before the announcement of the Government’s comprehensive spending review, I can deny I’m extremely worried about what affect decisions made today will have on my financial position.

    I’ve heard from many people in the campaigns network over the last two months who are concerned too.

    It’s now time to come together to ensure disabled people aren’t disproportionally affected by the cuts.

    Well I’m glad to say things have settled down a bit since my last post. I got my door fixed and the place is starting to feel like home at last. There’s one major thing left to sort, and that’s the accessible lift which is supposed to help wheelchair users negotiate the oh so pretty but impractical steps at the front of the building.

    Those of you that know me personally will know that I have recently upped sticks from the big smoke and moved to Reading. Whilst extremely worth while from a social perspective as I know lots of people here, the move has not been without its difficulties.
