Education

Further Education in Wales

At present, there is no specialist further education (FE) provision for those with complex needs in Wales.

Those who wish to continue their education have to attend a specialist college in England. All of these colleges are heavily oversubscribed and each place costs the Welsh Assembly Government up to £94,000 per student per year. Because of this many young disabled people have no education options and a significant proportion end up going back home to live with their parents, or end up in residential care placements.

This is your opportunity to create a local campaign to support Scope Cymru's national campaign asking the Welsh Government to create new FE provision for those with complex needs in Wales.

Follow our step-by-step guide to create your campaign, and remember to contact us at campaigns@scope.org.uk to let us know about your success, or if you need any advice on support. Alternatively, you can call us on 02920 662406.
