In The Picture: take action

What are we calling for?

• We’d like more authors and illustrators to include disabled characters in their work.
• We want to see more books featuring disabled characters in bookshops, libraries, schools and early years settings.
• We also want more publishers to publish books that include images and stories about disabled children.

What can I do?

1) Approach your local library, nursery or primary school and ask them to buy some of our list of early years picture books.

2) Help expand our book list: If you see an early years book that includes disabled characters and you think it’s suitable for our book list, please let us know by emailing inthepicture@scope.org.uk

3) Display an In the Picture poster: Richard Johnson's Magical Book poster. To order it, email us at inthepicture@scope.org.uk

4) Host the In the Picture exhibition – if you are a library, museum, gallery or school and are interested in showing the In the Picture exhibition, email inthepicture@scope.org.uk
