What matters to you and others?
We all care about different things – no two people are the same
For some people it might be spending time with family and friends that is all important. For others it might be being able to enjoy a good book or go to the theatre once in a while.
Identify an issue
The first step to running a successful campaign and getting things changed is identifying an issue, finding out how local people feel about the issue, and getting the support of people who share the aims and objectives of your campaign.
Use our planning a campaign factsheet to help you think about what really matters to you and who will support you to achieve the change you want to see.
Find people who care about the same thing
Once you are clear about what issue you want to campaign on, it’s important to find other people who care about the same thing and can help you. You are unlikely to be successful if you can’t find people to support what you want to achieve. Surveys and petititions are a great way to find and mobilise the people that care.

Not quite ready to start your own survey?
That’s okay – you can help Scope find out more about an issue many of our network members care about:
- Tell us your experience of finding an accessible property
- Save ILF with our open letter to Maria Miller
