Campaign success in Cambridge
John Taylor has made a lot of difference locally:
- he successfully campaigned for audio-visual announcements on National Express trains (between London and Cambridge)
- he improved access to the accessible toilet at Harlow BHS
- he got ‘Push’ stickers on platform lift in Burtons, Petty Cury Cambridge
- he got embossed buttons put in an existing control panel at WH Smith Cambridge
- he was a key stakeholder in Stagecoach Bus Company’s accessibility review
- he is currently working with Arcadia to improve lift accessibility in their UK stores
- and has worked with other household names, including Boots, Blacks the outdoor accessory store, Starbucks and Frankie and Benny’s to improve their disability access
John is currently working with B Bar in Cambridge to improve their outside seating and continues to address smaller issues locally.

August 2010 campaign update
Since complaining to Arcadia John has now struck up a constructive relationship with the Group Safety Manager. John will be working together with Arcadia to address the access issues that have been identified.

September 2010 campaign update
John's fight for better lift provision in high street stores hit Ipswich this month with strongly worded emails having been sent to representatives of HMV and Sports Soccer to raise concerns about the state or lack of customer lifts in the city.
Campaign latest
John continues to campaign hard on disability issues in his local area. Most recently his work has focused on safeguarding the local council's special transport provision and increasing the number of Braille menus available in local restaurants.
