Finding a foster care placement through us means excellent value for money and an alternative to more expensive residential care for a disabled child or young person.

We offer:

  • long-term placements
  • short-term placements
  • shared care – a child lives with a foster carer part-time, and with their family or other carers for the rest of their time
  • bridging placement – a child lives with a foster family while a longer-term solution is arrived at
  • emergency placement – for a day to a few weeks
  • short breaks (respite care) – a weekend or a few days

Why Scope?

  • We're experts in supporting disabled children and young people, particularly those with complex health conditions and impairments.
  • We're particularly successful in providing long-term placements, where disabled children thrive through consistency, stability and emotional warmth in a family home.
  • We continuously support foster carers through assessment and approval, and when they foster a child. We go beyond the usual, accompanying on hospital visits, phoning regularly and making home visits.
  • We support our families with advice about specialist equipment and aides.
  • We provide bespoke, continually updated training in caring for disabled children, covering such topics as feeding, sleep, behaviour and coping techniques.
  • Our foster carers support each other, providing respite care so they can have a break.
  • We have in-depth knowledge of local support networks, including our own services such as parent befriending, short breaks and sleep services.
  • We arrange social events and day trips where possible, and provide basics for when a child first arrives.
