Face 2 Face

Whatever disability your child may have, it’s a relief to know that there are other parents going through the same thing and that you can make contact and find out more.
Lindsay Randall, Befriender

Face 2 Face is a service available to parents of children recognised as having a special need or disability. Face 2 Face is a partnership between parents and professionals in the voluntary and statutory services drawing together experience for the benefit of new parents.

Face 2 Face offers a one-to-one befriending service for parents discovering their child is disabled.

These parents are known as befrienders and will have undergone a 40-hour training course that puts their own experiences into perspective and develops skills for supporting new parents to make positive adjustment to the news about their child.

Face 2 Face schemes operate across the UK. Anyone living in the area, whose child has been recognised as having a long-term disability, may use their local scheme. It is not necessary for a diagnosis of any condition to have been made.

If there is no scheme in one particular area, we can offer an email or telephone service to link parents with our trained befrienders. (link opens new window)
