The main search site for early years child care provision in the country is www.surestart.gov.uk The local information it contains varies considerably from area to area. Once the search reaches individual nurseries, for example, it is often possible to see “yes” highlighted against the words “special needs”, “special diet” and “wheelchair access”.

It is also possible to download the standards for full day care, childminding, out of school care, crèches and sessional care here.
