Leisure

Beaumont has a thriving social scene, and students play an important role in the management of the college’s leisure facilities through the annually-elected Student Council.

Social life revolves round the student common room, which is equipped with satellite TV, games consoles and a video projector. The college also has its own large screen video projection system with 5.1 surround sound. There is a weekly college disco which is extremely popular. Students make the most of all the social attractions and leisure facilities that a university town like Lancaster can offer.

All the students have opportunities to arrange social activities such as concerts, tenpin bowling, going to the cinema, public house or restaurant, football and rugby matches, theatre trips and the like.

The students regularly organise excursions to places of interest and, with the close proximity of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, they can also enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities including sailing, canoeing, climbing, abseiling, caving and orienteering. There are frequent trips to outdoor pursuit centres, youth hostels and cultural destinations.

Students are encouraged to integrate with the wider community, some joining local clubs, Lancaster Youth Arts Theatre being one example.

The college is always well-represented at CP Sport regional boccia, athletics and swimming events with successful athletes progressing to national championships.
