The Beaumont experience
NEW: University of Cumbria and Scope to explore possibility of co-locating Beaumont College
Founded in 1977 in a pleasant residential area on the outskirts of Lancaster, Beaumont College caters for residential and day students, aged between 18 and 25, with a broad range of physical and learning impairments.
“Three years at Scope's Beaumont College have given me the skills, confidence and knowledge I need to make my own way in the world.”
The emphasis at Beaumont is on ability rather than disability. Our aim is to empower students to take responsibility for their own lives and to make things happen for themselves, either independently or by working with and directing others.
Our fully accessible, modern campus is close to shops and amenities, and this encourages students to become involved at many different levels in the local community.
Students contribute to the running of the college through the very active Student Council, membership of working groups and representation at Governors’ meetings.
