Craig-y-Parc School

Established in 1955, Craig-y-Parc is a purpose-built school attached to a 17th-century manor house, set in beautiful countryside near Cardiff. It offers a broad, balanced education to pupils aged between three and 16 who attend on a daily, weekly or termly basis.

“Craig-y-Parc has given us the best possible start.”

The school provides access to the National Curriculum for pupils who have a wide range of needs and abilities. Each pupil is assessed by a multidisciplinary team of teachers, physiotherapists, speech therapists and care staff and given support to enable him or her to progress educationally, physically and personally.

The emphasis is on finding forms of teaching and activity which are appropriate to each child. Riding, hydrotherapy, sport and the school's nature trail and sensory room all play a part in encouraging the children to become mobile and independent. The school has great experience and expertise in helping children with communication difficulties.

Craig-y-Parc is very much part of the local community and it has close and warm relationships with families and parents. Pupils are encouraged to join local scout and guide packs if they wish, and there are contacts with local families and expeditions into Cardiff. Many pupils go on from Craig-y-Parc to further education colleges via link courses.
