Admissions

Children are referred for a place in the school by their Local Education Authority (LEA). Parents of prospective pupils are welcome to visit informally prior to a referral. If at that visit or subsequent visit we are able to meet the child, we are usually able to give a reasonably clear idea of whether or not Ingfield Manor School would be an appropriate school and whether or not we would have a place.

Should parents feel that they want their child to attend they must secure agreement from their Local Education Authority to fund a place. If and when a referral is made an Admission Assessment is arranged. Referrals for placement in school occur throughout the school year. The prospective pupil and family are invited to meet school staff and will spend time within a group, enabling a thorough assessment to be made of the school’s ability to meet the child’s needs.

Following the assessment a meeting is held and a decision is made as to whether the child’s needs could be met at Ingfield Manor School and if so whether a suitable place is or will become available. Parents and LEA are informed of this decision. If a place is offered the LEA will confirm acceptance of the place once funding has been agreed.
