Pre-School Assessment Service (PSAS)

The Pre-School Assessment Service offers full or part-time provision for children age three to five.

The Conductive Education programme incorporates the Early Years Curriculum and includes all areas of learning including active sitting, standing, walking, manipulation, communication, cognitive development and self-help skills.

The children are motivated to learn through playful activities and games. They develop friendships and social interactive skills with a peer group who have similar learning needs.

Part of PSAS’s role is to produce a comprehensive multi-disciplinary assessment of each child’s needs to enable parents and their LEA to make an informed decision about the most appropriate placement at age five.

Children are placed with the agreement of the child’s Local Education Authority to support and fund a placement.

This service complements the School for Parents service, and parents will be actively encouraged to continue attendance at their existing weekly School for Parents session. The pre-School builds on the skills and knowledge developed in the School for Parents.

When a child reaches statutory school age they may join the primary department or move to another school that may have been identified as more able to meet their needs.
