I'm sure it would be a lot more popular it it weren't. sometimes it takes days to see your post, then days more to get a reply. Also the search facilities don't work, neither do the smilies, and we're not all "site admin". I am put off using it because of the delays. Particularly if I have something urgent I need support for - like if I'm having a wobble.
Does anyone else feel like me? I think it's a shame because it's potentially a great forum.

Hi Charley,
thank you for your comments.
We aim to review posts within two working days but most will go live sooner. Occasionally we may need to get an expert's view or response and that may sometimes take a little longer.
We want to emphasise that we don't intend pre-moderation to be censorship, merely a way of ensuring that vulnerable users and you are protected from uninvited attention and inappropriate messages such as advertising or misleading statements.
Regarding technical difficulties can I suggest you contact the webmaster email webmaster@scope.org.uk
Kind Regards

I would agree with Charlie that the forum used to be much better before it was pre-moderated. Before it was pre-moderated I never saw anything 'dodgy' and it was through the old forum that I was able to exchange email addresses with a couple of other users who have now become very close friends. Most parents now use the www.specialkidsintheuk.org instead as far as I can see. It's a shame that there isn't a similar forum for young adults with cp to chat over and gain support.

hi
yes I too agree that scope forums would be a lot better if you didnt have to wait for the replies to be checked.. I'm sure that we could have a few volunteer moderaters to check the boards.... I do check the boards every day or so... but it's such a let down as the rest of the scope website seems really good....

Hi Premod, thanks for your reply.
I've recently joined specialkidsintheuk too which is great, but I'd still like to have the support of a specific and dynaminc cp forum. There's more than enough people with cp or parents/carers of people with cp (and professionals with an interest too) to warrant a busy national forum.
I think most people are wise enough to spot someone touting for business or posting anything dodgy, and if we have more traffic (which we would) then the more experienced of us can keep an eye out for newbies. Could there be a disclaimer on each page? Also regarding posting personal email address, what's the big deal? It's easy enough to set up one just for scope communication - or better still, have a private message facility added to the board like on the specialkids site.
And is it just me who can't get the smilies to work, or search a specific poster's posts?

there's smileys???? where?
we could do with it being a little less formal around here and surely as adults it's up to us if we want to give out our e-mail,i just don't understand why the cloak and dagger.surely if you can premoderate each post you could do the same for people who are joining and check ther IP address...this is what other boards do.i know there are sick people out there as i have unfortunately come across a few of them (pretending to have sick kids, etc) but they always get caught out, mostly by other members when they smell a rat.

When I click to post a message there's a column of "clickable smilies" in a column on the left of the text box. another point about not being premoderated is that whilst not wishing to speak on anyone's behalf - surely there are thousands of people with cp for whom this forum would be a wonderful resource for chatting, sharing, making friends. As it stands they're not going to use this forum because it's so cumbersome and as far as I can see there's no where else for them to go. Scope is THE national CP information point and really should have a proper real time forum. All forums get flamers/trolls occasionally, but people aren't stupid and they'll be percieved for who they are - also a bit of controversy often spices up a board don't you think?? :D :D :D

Hi
In the past this was a very active and useful forum then it was closed for an age.Was reopened, then closed and returned in this new formatt. Basicaly SCOPE is no longer providing the decent sevices it used to and this is another example.

Hi
I agree Paul this forum used to be a very active forum to use I used to spend many an evening chatting with friends in here. But as you say once it finally reopened it has become another example of Scope decrease in useful services.
