Just another typical morning, son's got the dog in a death grip daughters are arguing over who's wearing whos clothes, toast's burning I look like I've stepped out of the black lagoon and would frighten any small child (actually anyone.....child, adult) The news is on, what??carers allowance??? did I hear right something about minimum wage???? Never ...could Gordon really be raising the carers allowance to reflect minimum wage??? oh my god like getting paid for caring instead of the token few pounds we have been fobbed off with all this time????NO NO NO, I heard wrong.....the chaos in the house interfered with my hearing yet again.
No stupid Gordon has raised the minimum wage so carers who can actually get out and find some part time work will lose their allowance........the threshold being below minimum wage..
After all the media attention highlighting the plight of carers and the pitance they recieve for caring 24hours a day every day of the year ..............Gordon shows us what a total ignorant ***** he is!!
Well done
Whens the revolution???????

How similar to my house this all sounded. TV on in each room but none on anything reotely for me! PS2 playing loudly upstairs, another child on Boomerang in the lounge then the other one comes in and starts watching something on ITV!!!!!!

Did manage to hear in a quiet moment around 10.30 last night something about this carers farce. So, not only to we have to care for our relative, but now we have even less chance of actually getting some money from looking after them (remembering of course that we doing this out of necessity and love, not because it is a profession we have chosen to work in).

I don't get carers allowance as i work evenings and weekends, this means i am home during the day to look after my child/children. so therefore i not entitled to anything.

Of course Gordan and the rest of the government realise that they have us in a catch 22 situation, the hospitals ectc are not geared up to care for our families (irrespective of child or adult), nor are there the correct facilities for home carers to provide round the clock care (as in our area which i am sure is reflected round the country, key suervices like this have been severely reduced), now it seems that those of us that do stay at home to provide the care needed are being slapped in the face with even less money.

COME ON, WE SHOULD BE SHOUTING FROM THE ROOFTOPS ABOUT THIS - IT IS NOT ON.

I work one weekend a month and for a two week period in the summer - all when my husband can look after my daughter - this averaged out (which is what the darling helpline told me would happen) takes me (tuppence ha'penny) over the limit to claim carer's allowance, despite the fact that I am caring well over the required amount of hours per week (well, except for those two weeks annually)....

Carer's allowance is a joke.

Fortunately I don't do it for the money.

But then that's what they're relying on, isn't it?

How familiar,

We are inconsiderate enough to have a child with disabilities!!!!!

My wife does not work at the moment and we claim the insult that is carers allowance, granted it is bolstered somewhat by the increase we then get from Tax Credits. However each and every month is a struggle to gft to the end of without fobbing somebody off because we cannot pay a bill.

I say we oust this bunch of idiotic, American following, brush our kids under the carpet beurocrats and do it ourselves!!!!!
