Incapacity benefit
A campaigns networker recently contacted me regarding IB and her concerns relating to proposed new powers allowing government to track what money claiments spend and on what.
I'd be interested to know your thoughts?
You can read Panther's blog at http://www.scope.org.uk/node/16683
The only way theycan truly track your spending habbits is if you use the account for your pension fo0r all of your transactions. I take mine in cash.
It's a bit difficult to not use your bank account for all transactions when now they ask for a bank account for the benefits to be paid into directly.
Yes they ask where you want your benefits into but you can still it in cash. Or even move it into another current account and use that as your casr base. But always take it out of the account weekly they know about and in cash. try not to leave a papertrail.
the ic benifit used to have regular medicals also alot people paid a stamp including those on sda. medical different each time you see it. problem for someone visual disability need computer with at on it.
Its worth mentioning that the Govt has always had this snooping power. Normally it would be directed at the individuals who were abusing the system. Oh there are some believe me when I say that. Unfortunately for the govt there are a lot of people who are not and the way society treats them is just not fair. Also this govt said that they were going to repeal the more intrusive Labour snooping laws. It is no surprise that it was complete hyperbole.
As such I agree with the above comments get the money paid into your bank account. Then take it out and spend the cash on what you will. Cash it the one form of payment that cannot be tracked. Although this is not a hard and fast rule it does show that you just need to be imaginative to defeat Big Brother.
Really I should have chosen Winston Smith as my profile name as I have a lot in common with him when I say DOWN with Big Brother or whatever he is called in the 21st Century...
