Whilst the DWP sift through 10,000 incapacity benefit (IB) claimants a week (until 2014) to change them over to other benefits such as ESA people are suffering. Those in desperate need are able to claim community care grants for resettlement after a period of homelessness or leaving institutional care as well as payments such as funeral and maternity grants. However, if you are only claiming IB you are not entitled to them. It is the government that have changed the goal posts, they do not care about the human cost rather they care about budgets. Is it fair that people suffering from similar conditions are entitled to more or less because they are receiving a new or old benefit despite the fact their situation is still the same?
At www.enerfly.org I have written an article regarding this issue to raise awareness of it and hopefully get it changed. Come join us, tell us about what is adversely affecting you, lets support everyone affected by medical adversity / disability.
