Hi everyone

l am new to the forums and after reading some of the topics l felt l had to let people know it's not all doom and gloom being disabled

l feel so lucky living where l do in Runcorn. Cheshire.
O.k. the transport isn't fantastic but we do have buses with ramps and taxi's that take wheelchairs.
l haven't done a train journey as yet but we have just had a new lift installed at our station.
My brother in law has cerebral palsy and when he nad my sister visited last year the staff at the station were very helpfull to them.

l do travel to Widnes and Liverpool on the bus and have only twice not been able ot ge on because of another wheelchair or too many buggies. - What happened ot having to fold down a buggy, lt's not difficult ot do it, l've done it before l became a wheelchair user, lt would make life so much easier for everyone.

l'm also lucky enough to have a electric scooter that l use to go to our shopping centre that is more like a mall and is accessible to wheelchairs and scooters, we have disabled toilets there to. l have always found the staff in every shop very helpful and polite.
lt's a lovely ride there and l prefer it to a bus ride as l get to meet people and see the wildlife.
Also we have our share of yobs etc but l have never as yet have been intimidated passing groups of youths, they always smile and say hi.

l hope l have given someone hope that going out isn't always a bad thing
