Hi, this is my first time writing in tho' I've been lurking on this site for some time. My son will be 2 in June and has asymmetric diplegia with the left side more involved than right, he had a brain haemorrhage in the womb and wasn't expected to survive birth, we knew from the outset that he'd have CP and he's been in early intervention since he was 4 months old. He has no use of his left arm/hand and sensitivity is low in both (I sometimes think I could stand on his arm and he wouldn't notice!), his left leg is also very tight and hindering his ability to sit unaided. He can sit for about 15 minutes once he doesn't reach out for a toy with his right hand, he topples over then because he still can't save himself.
I had an appointment with our paeditrician last week and he recommended Baclofen to reduce the tone in his arm and leg to try and increase mobility and he told us the only side effects were sleepiness and possible floppyness. Having done some research I've discovered that the side effects are far more serious than that and am nervous about starting him on this medicine. Has anyone else any experience of this drug?
