Hi,

my name is Chris, I`m 21 and have CP.

I started this topic because I believe that there are plenty of people with CP and probably no speech as well, who are still struggling with switch control, whereas they really only have control over their eye movements. These guys may noy even know about how they could make use of their eyes.

Before getting my eye controlled machine I used a Pathfinder with chinswitches for about 4 years. I always found switches a bit slow so started looking into other ways and I found eye gaze control. Looked quite a few different products and finally ended up with a mytobii P10 because I think right now it is the best choice on the market. I am a happy tobii user since November 2006 and can only recommend it to everyone as I do believe we all deserve a quality life. Don`t get me wrong, I am not saying that the only means to achieve this is to use a tobii, any eye controlled computers are far better than anything else. I just think, and this is my personal experience as well, that a P10 is the choice for us.

Have you got any questions? Feel free to ask.

All the best!

Chris

this is called a Neural Actuator and it allows the control of computers (at the moment its being used in games) with brain
its still only simple but shows real promise for the future -- even if the rest of the world only see's it as usfull for games

Hi Chris,

My 4-year-old daugther just had an assessment for an Eye Gaze system and it went really well. I agree they are the way forward. She find most other aids too slow and really unable to deal with what she actually wants to say. Did you find comms aids inadequate. Any suggestions on how I might help her along?

Thanks.
