Scope claim they support those with disabilities to work voluntarily in their stores, in my opinion I have yet to walk in any store and see a person working there with disabilities. I also have experience of a person keen to do some voluntary work and being given all the excuses under the sun not to take them on, this is my daughter she is 22 has learning difficulties, needs some guidance but is far from stupid. A new store opened in St Neots but before it opened my daughter went in there with myself to put herself forward to hep a few hours a week, at the time the manager noted her name etc and was very keen for her to help out, and said to go back in July which we did, only to get told they had enough volunteers, which irritated us as we were there before store opening! we got told that they needed extra people there to support the disabled person! and also that insurance became a minefield, they needed to check this as it involved a vulnerable adult! very disappointed in all this health and safety waffle that they come out with, so much for supporting those with disabilities when they can't even get a few hours a week! it would be kinder in the long term to tell them sadly they can't work there because and give the reasons rather than build up hopes! has anyone else had issues like this trying to integrate into the community or trying to help out only to hit a brick wall I would be interested ....

This is terrible and has a devastating effect on peoples confidence, my son was once picked out at school to present an award on stage but when he got up the teacher said "oh no you can't because you can only use one hand" in front of people, my son was gutted and hurt
I was livid when I found out and arranged a meeting with the school, the teacher apologized to my son and me but as far I was concerned they had set my son back with his confidence.

By the way it was only one teacher the rest of the school were great all the years he was there.
