Hi carrie29

I understand your situation as you know I am unemployed at present I have been for a few interviews, I have just come back from an interview for an Administrator in a local NHS hospital, so i must be doing something right. There has been a few jobs that I would have had to turn down, if I was offered the position due access issues etc I am taking the opportunity to update my IT skills. I am going to book my exam for module 2 of EDCL for next friday.

The only advice I can give regards working part time or full time is do what is right for you!

take care
Andrew

I don't know why you are apologising. It is scary contemplating a job outside your experience and of course you want to move on with your life. Getting engaged and buying your first home together is exciting hope things work out well really quickly :)

I know i am not looking forward to another operation. I know this is the final one that iknow of. I have had great support from my Scope Employment Officer and have finally got the council to sign the forms for scope to get involved. I have untill July to find a Job in the council before i am sacked . I am doing the ECDL Course (commputer course) Excel Trainning and word. Paid for by the council and scope .
I am worried greatly about my future and the last few years have been hard. I have gone from being independant to relying on others all the time . I wll take this as far as i can to get the right result. Thank you for all your help. Carrie

Hello there,

Why wouldn't they let scope in? It tells you enough about the company, as they are not very supportive of you obviously.

Doesn't it make you sick?

Hi Carrie29

How you doing? I have just seen your post, that great news that you have the legal support, but I don't understand what you mean by the council does not have the policy in place?

I maybe interpreting this in the wrong way, but surely the people giving you support and advice should be looking out for your needs NOT your employers (the council) ?

Hi carrie29

Hope your ok, have you had your last operation yet?

You may want to see if your legal team have looked into the following to add even more weight to your case
1) considered contacting jobcentreplus to find out how you can get an organistion disability status recognition reviewed?

according to your earlier post I understand your in a temporary position, have you 2) looked at your employment contract, check out http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Employees/EmploymentContractsAndC...

and info on fixed term work 3)
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Employees/EmploymentContractsAndC...

I had a look at newcastle council website they claim to follow 5 committments regarding being positive action on disability. Have you tried contacting the human resources officer (disability issues) or the personnel officer (disability issues) see below http://www.newcastle-city-council.gov.uk/core.nsf/a/cityjobspositiveacti...

I am not sure if these suggestion help but maybe worth looking into

The hardest thing about changing my job is the recovery from this operation .I am trying to retrain myself and deal with recovery pain from two operations and walk again.
Because i am on the redeployment register i have no boss , so know one rang to see how i am ,how it went and work friend`s seem to forget me.

I was a nursery nurse for 12 years and trying hard to make my career change positive.
I have never done another job .

I got engaged this year and want so much to move on with my life and my career as i need the income to buy a house as we can`t live together at the moment due to all my operations.
I am sorry i know there are other`s finding things hard i am have seem to have lost myself in my problems with my disability.I need to be me again .

Hi Carrie29

The organisation that you are doing your course with is it learn direct or another organisation? are you doing the ECDL yourself or is it part of your re deployment package?

What ever the setup of how the course is administered your hard work will be worth it, when you gain the ECDL qualification in Information Technology Competence. Keep smiling and think of what you will have achieved when you finished the course.

Also contact your disability officer at the job centre tell them you are at risk of loosing your job. they will tell you about workstep. Carrie

Hi Carrie29

I am sorry to hear that it was the human resources team who wanted you sacked, to be honest 12 weeks redeployment is not long at all considering you need time to recover sufficently after your last operation.

Some thing that maybe useful to you when you are in a position to look for a job is the job is the job introduction scheme offered by jobcentreplus see link

http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/Customers/Disabled_People_and_Carers...

it maybe worth contacting a disability employment advisor at jobcentreplus as they visit and advice employers. As you know I used to work for DWP, I'll contact my old colleague who helping me at present to find a new job, if there is anything they can do?

if you would like like me to contact my colleague just let me know.

Take Care,

Andrew

Day time tv or any tv is a bore after a while. Can you work towards your course at home? Do you have an interest you can get stuck into? I am interested in family history for example but i think that may be a oldie hobby! judging by forums . (I have always been interested in history though.) I have always worked hard with preparation for teaching etc it occupies my mind and when I am not working I need to keep busy. If you are feeling low talk to you doctor about your mood as well as the CP. Sorry to hear about OH'mum.

Hi Carrie29

Hope your ok ? I have just read your last posting re ECDL course keeps crashing, are you doing the online or CD Rom version? The online version allows you to pause the program at any time, you should be able to save any sections that you have completed.

The only time the program may sometimes crash is when your trying to log in to your user area or when the tutor is trying to access the ECDL tutors admin and exam area, this has happened to me a few time. If it continues speak to your learning advisor at the learn direct centre.

Andrew
