RE DISABLED AND WORK
hi although most of us would like to work if we could and have worked, but the government must take into account that there are nearly 3 million ablebodied unemployed and that the uk office of national statistics said there was 492,000 job vacancies up to 3 months to may 2010,so to try to force and reassess all people on incapacity benefit and dla is totally unrealistic.
govenments have always tried to get people back to work, only to find that its helpful to have a certain number of unemployed. The reason is that we don't have stay-at-home mums any more in society so it falls to the unemployed and disabled to 'be there for people'. in an unofficial unrecognized way. Attempts to change the numbers of unemployed to employed should be done sensitively and with respect. I thought the fairy jobmother programme was quite good. She said that if you build people up and treat them as the individuals that they are then anything is possible.
thats not what usuallly happens though... thanks for listening
Hi All, I am a disabled person and have not hidden the fact because of my disabilities I cannot be employed. The way I see it is if any volunteer is good enough to volunteer then they are good enough to be paid a salary. Yes many will argue because of lack of funds they cannot employ people. Then suddenly a new team member arrives on a paid salary.
Our new Goverment says the Big Society, does anyone know what it is? the last chat by ministers was to go into volunteering, but what happens if the organisation has not the resources to support its own workforce, pay the bills and support the volunteer. Will the Goverment give these organisations funds to keep alive. I don't think so
On 11th May the disabled people will show the Goverment and yes it is going back to the days when we campaigned for access rights, do I remember them well. But we all know where the Goverment will be behind the gates, if they cared about us they should be side by side of us on 11 May.
