Welcome to the new Scope forum
Welcome to Scope's new online community - we have been listening to you and we hope you like the changes!
Please let us know your views as this our new website is a ‘beta’ version. This means it will be a work in progress and we’ll be asking you to feed back on design, navigation and content, helping us to make even more improvements. Please bear with us during this time.
The new site has been developed over the last year and is the result of extensive consultation with disabled people, website users, staff and members. Thanks to everyone who has contributed.
Thanks for taking the time to feedback to us – it is really appreciated.
Hopefully you will have noticed that the early years forum, along with over 100,000 of your posts, has been moved over to Scope’s new website.
We did this because we fully appreciate the importance of keeping the continuity of the Scope website forum community, while trying to improve other aspects of the website.
You can keep your old username (and all your posts!) by requesting a new password at www.scope.org.uk/user/password - if you have any problems, please email editor@scope.org.uk
As you can imagine, this was quite an undertaking and we are experiencing one or two technical glitches. This is a beta version, which means that we hope to iron out any issues – such as the American date format and the save/post thing – with you, our website visitors and our developers over the next few weeks.
Together we hope we can make it work for everybody – thanks once again for getting in touch, Alex
I do agree about the date format, I do hope that can be changed.
On the old site - even though I had set my preferences, I never received notification of replies to threads that I posted on. I can't even see that in the new preferences - is that an option or will it happen automatically?
Thank you!
Hi, thanks for the feedback
One of the reasons we are updating the website and the forum is to overcome some of the issues you had on the old site like the one you raise. We'll be adding the notification of replies option for you over the coming weeks. This is a beta website which means it is a work in progess and we'll add new things over time. Hope you'll like the new stuff that's coming...
Keep giving us your feedback so that we can get these things right for you, Alex
Well, I like the 'look' of the new site, and I realise that things most move with the times, and that the old site was due for an update.
BUT
Where are the old forums? There is a lot on here, and other sites about children and parents of children with CP, but where is our 'LIVING' forum, the bit where us adult sufferers chat to one and other?????????? Also, how can we search for the people we have become familiar with? There is no search box on the forum. As, 'forgoodnessake' I too cannot find the 'POST' button, and so just hope that this post reaches you.
Hope you can sort these teething probs out soon and best wishes with the new site, I know only too well that its not easy, but if we dont let you have our 'gripes' you wont know what we are not happy with.
Regards
Karen
Dear Karen
Glad you like the look of the site and we hope that you will like the way it works too in due course!
Thanks very much for taking the time to feedback to us and we're very sorry for the problems with the new forum, which has brought over most of the old forums but not Living, which our developers are working to restore.
We're also planning to add a search facility and to fix the post issue as soon as possible.
Thanks for your understanding and support, Alex
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I will keep looking in and look forward to the site being fully up and running soon.
Kind regards
Karen
Dear Karen, Helen and everyone else,
The living forum is now restored as "My life" - if you don't like the name, we'll change it so please let us know what you think.
Thanks once again for staying with us, Alex
Hi Alex, sorry for not responding sooner, I have been a bit busy and not able to visit the site, as it can gobble up a couple of hours in no time!
I was pleasantly surprised when I logged intoday to find the post have been transferred over. It is going to take a while to find my way around, and see what my old pals have been posting, but I am sure it will all come.
Would it be possible to add a facility to link 'my posts'? This would enable me to keep a check on the subjects which I have posted on and any responses.
Thanks again. Karen
How a about a spellcheck my spelling is not very good
Hmm - where are all the other forum topics (early years for example)?
And PLEASE can we not use American date format - it should be day/month/year !
I also just could not get it to recognise my former user name (this has happened every time this forum has been re-jigged - which is quite a few times in the last 12 years!!) so have had to change it - this loses continuity and familiarity with people who I "know" on here.
Sorry not tobe more positive but I am struggling to find my way around this at the moment....
Also, just going to post this comment - but nowhere does it say "post" - it says "save" which means something else to me....but I imagine this must be the post button cos there isn;t another apart from preview.
