I need help!!

My 7 yr old son has Quad CP and I need to get an oversized baby's cot for him to sleep in, as he is also blind and has no sense of fear so he falls out of a normal bed.

Problem is I've surfed for hours on the internet to try and find companies who make them...but to no avail!

Does anyone out there know of any firms in the UK who do make them. I've asked the Community O.T but she's none of the wiser either. The cot has to have high sides (like a baby's cot) but with an adult size base so he will have wear from it.

I'm desperate now as he's sleeping in a travel cot and is quickly out growing it.

Thanks!

Vicki

Hello Vicki,

Suggest try: COTSWOLD COTS, Grawins, Rock Close, Carterton, Oxfordshire OX18 3BP, Tel: 01993 842885 Voice/Fax. They can make any sort of cot required. They also have a video of different units.

Also check with Disabled Living Foundation, they have the biggest database of aids/equipment for disabled people in UK:
Tel: 0845 130 9177 (10am to 4pm)
Email: dlfinfo@dlf.org.uk
Website: www.dlf.org.uk

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. I went to out local Disability Living centre and bingo! they had information on them.

I'm now in the process of trying to get funding for an OLAF cot from Thera-posture.

My local Carers Project is going to try and make the applications to various charities for us.

Once again thank you very much for your help.

Vicki

I use inflatable cotsides instaed - they go all round the 4 sides of the bed, are about two feet high, and when blown up they are strong enough to prevent me spasming out of bed.

The only reason I mention them is because when I used normal cot type sides with gaps in, I used to damage my fingers/wrists/toes etc because of them getting caught.
