Nights relief for my friend with a 16 year old CP son
When my friend who has lost her husband has her son over school holidays, she has to get up so many times during the night that she would welcome a person to give her some relief by taking on the role at night. I am not too sure how this works and whether anybody knows of a company which provides such care (money is not the issue there) but any idea or direction would be much appreciated. She lives in Stokenchurch in Bucks. Thanks to all who will be anwering. Chantal
hi
Have you heard of Haven House, they are based in Woodford East London they offer overnight stay and respite for parents, you can stay in the apartment as well beautiful, clean and excellent staff.
Hi, have you heard of Oxford Aunts? They do live in care and may be able to help with nights. I'm 30 and have quad CP, hydrocephalus and am registered blind. The UK Health Care Association (UKHCA) http://www.ukhca.co.uk/findcare/ has a lust of care agencies nationwide. All you have to do is type your postcode and a list comes up, with links to each company's site (if they have one) if not a phone number will come up. Otherwise, try Helping Hands Homecare, I saw their ad in Facebook, they say they have experience with people with CP. I also looked in the yellow pages website, searching for home care agencies.
It seems a lot of care companies do what are known as "night sitting services" where someone will provide care during the night. Also try your local independent living centre( like an information centre for people with disabilities and medical conditions) and see what they say.
