Carole was alone on a train when she found out that her cheerful, smiley son Dexter, had a rare genetic condition that affects his development and movement.
There was a strong feeling of emptiness and anxiety. I couldn’t escape it, or share it with anyone. I didn’t know where to go for help.
Thankfully, we put Carole in touch with Sav, a parent befriender whose daughter is also disabled. She could understand just what Carole was going through.

She helped Carole to understand Dexter’s condition, and to see the future in a positive way.

Now it’s not just Dexter who’s smiling.
If Scope’s service wasn’t there, I don’t know how I would have coped.

Right now, another mum like Carole, is feeling isolated and fearful, not knowing where to go for help.

You can make sure she will have someone to turn to, so she doesn't have to face difficult times alone.
