For many decades now, the annual Lord Mayor’s Appeal of the City of London has raised millions of pounds for charities and good causes recommended by successive Lord Mayors. This year Alderman Alan Yarrow selected Scope and Mencap to ensure the funds raised over the next 12 months will support our essential work with families.
The appeal will allow us to create the Scope Family Fund that will
  • be there when and where families need us, whether online, on the phone or in person
  • develop our online and Face 2 Face services where parents can support each other and share problems and advice
  • ensure that disability does not equal disadvantage by supporting our work at a local and national level to change the landscape of support services for families

Having a disabled son has given our family first-hand experience of the need for support. We understand how parents and siblings can struggle to cope when a family member is disabled.
