Short breaks and family support

We offer a wide range of short breaks and family support services designed to meet the needs of disabled children and young people with complex support needs, including cerebral plasy, autism and challenging behaviours. These services include:

  • Home support including domiciliary care and overnight support, to provide a break for the main family carer and deliver personal support to the disabled child or young person.
  • Community-based support to enable disabled children and young people to access local leisure activities and clubs, supporting their inclusion within their local communities.
  • Scope residential short breaks (respite) in Scope-owned accommodation, which is specially designed to meet the needs of children with complex support needs. We can offer single overnight stays or breaks of a few days or a week or more.
  • Family-based short breaks by Scope Fostering Services in the homes of approved foster carers for single nights, weekends or whole weeks.

Scope short breaks are designed to meet the needs of both disabled children and young people and their families. We aim to offer breaks which are fun, interesting and developmental for young people. Our highly trained staff are experienced in meeting the individual needs of children and aim to make you feel confident that your child's stay is as pleasant as possible.
