Learning how to be assertive

Being able to communicate with others in a way that doesn't upset them, but allows you to tell them that you're not happy is important.

Activity: Think about a time when you have spoken up about something you weren't happy about. Create a 'still statue' of how you felt beforehand and then think about how your body position changed and what you said to sort the situation out.

Trendsetters shared some of the things they have said:

"I'm ignoring you."

"Remind me what sort of right have you got over me?"

"I've come here to be an actor and that's what I'm going to do."

"No one can make me live in terror."

"What makes you more important than me?"

"One of my rights is to have free will."

"Roosevelt said when America was in recession - I have nothing to fear, but fear itself."
