Understanding you have rights

Human rights are basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the world.

Activity: Make up a poem, rap or speech that talks about why you think you should stand up for your rights.

Trendsetters came up with some great ones:

"You're right about your Rights. An' about Ed-u-ca-tion. And a two-tier education system. Be protected, no discrimination. Participate to other people. So know your rights to get you through life. Yo."

"Life - live it to the fullest. If you don't let me live my life. I'll be hit by a small bullet. Then you are stopping my human rights. Strikes, riots and disagreements. Reason I'm doing it 'cos I want my freedom. There's treason in your reason."

"When you're discriminated against means you're not good enough as other people. For example, I'm not good at maths. Can't join people together saying I can't do it when I know I can."

"The game. When I'm not allowed to play the game. It makes me feel lame. I want to be the same."

"Disability, it's a nightmare that never goes away. The times you wish you could have your say. The scars that no one can see. The chances you wish you'd been able to seize. It's something that makes you tire. The label you wish you didn't require. It's the things that make you cry. Even when you know you've tried. It's something we all have in some shape or form. Life is still a rocky storm."
