Mathematics and dyslexia at P level 7

A dyslexic child will struggle with new terminology, for example add one, less and forwards and backwards. They may also struggle to pick out described shapes. Concepts will be harder to establish.
You can
- Continue to help the child over-learn key concepts and to experience them through practical tasks
- Allow time for concepts to be processed - do not move on to learning about less if a child does not understand ‘more’
- Find ways to help the child remember key words, for example link the front of a train to forwards, the back of the train to backwards
