PSHE: P levels 4–8

P levels 1-3 are the same in all subjects, because they are measuring a basic response to a stimulus. P levels 4–8 are more specific, measuring how the pupil acquires skills and knowledge in each subject area.

The Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) curriculum, produced by the Department for Education, is the basis of PSHE and covers this area from early years to secondary school.

Encourage the whole school to use this curriculum and you will see a real difference to pupils’ respect, tolerance and understanding of others, helping with the inclusion of all pupils, especially these who are disabled.

These websites are a good place to find SEAL resources.

These pages contain lists of the basic requirements for P levels 4-8 in PSHE and look at how they are affected by the main areas of impairment, with some ideas to help your pupils.
