PSHE: dyslexia at P level 7

Hearing impairment

Communication through appropriate language may be difficult and the concept of right and wrong may need developing.

  • Try modelling the language used for communicating feelings and recapping the key words before they are needed. As at the other P levels, use a multisensory approach so there are visual cues as well as aural ones.
  • The concept of the words right and wrong may need developing, particularly as ‘right’ sounds like ‘write’ and may cause confusion.
  • Encourage the pupil to participate in role play and watch others performing role play, linking this to events they have experienced.
  • Discuss what was right and wrong about a small scenario they’ve acted out.  Ask what the individuals involved felt like as a result of what someone said or did. Discuss how this would have been better if [identify alternative behaviour which would have been kinder, politer or not upset the other pupil].
