PSHE: dyslexia at P level 8

The dyslexic pupil may need support remembering rules for games because they struggle to sequence activities and remember terminology. They may also need support looking after a school pet, if used to foster caring concepts in the classroom.
The dyslexic pupil is not likely to have issues in understanding other people’s needs. But if they struggle to remember names and terminology they may lack the confidence and initiative to develop relationships unsupported.
You can
- Use the ideas in P level 8 and physical impairment around using circle time to boost confidence by highlighting everyone’s strengths.
- Be aware of the dyslexic pupil’s short concentration span, when asking them to care for a class pet. They may be asked to do something then forget it a moment later – and the fish may not get fed!
