The challenges for the hearing impaired pupil will be similar across the curriculum and P levels. Read the main issues and suggestions for hearing impaired children across subject areas first.
You can
- Make sure other children face the hearing impaired pupil when talking and speak clearly. Encourage raised hands or other means to make sure that the hearing impaired pupil knows who is speaking and who to look at.
- Reiterate what all pupils say in class discussions – the teacher will be facing the class so more visible and with a louder, clearer voice.
