PSHE: hearing impairment at P level 7-8

At P level 7 awareness of people’s feelings may need specific support, as will gaining the vocabulary for social skills and expressing emotions. Introduce new vocabulary in a clear, concise and contextual way. Make sure that the hearing impaired pupil can repeat the words before they need to use them with other pupils. P level 8 continues the themes of the previous P levels, but includes an awareness of right from wrong.

Approach sensitivity to others’ feelings in circle time; talk about similarities and differences but focus too on things we all need. Encourage the pupil to understand that other people have needs as well as them. Use the SEAL resources to support this.
