PSHE: physical impairment at P level 8
At P level 8 the physically impaired pupil’s own challenges make it harder for them to be aware of the needs of others, since everything physical is much more tiring for them.
The pupil may need support to be aware of other pupils’ needs and in how they can offer support. This links with valuing and respecting the differences in each other.
You can:
- Use circle time to identify one thing that each pupil can say they are good at, encourage pupils who are good at particular things to help others who find that task less easy.
- Be creative - some pupils will find it hard to identify something they are good at without prompting; it might be that they have a cheery smile, which makes people feel happy, or that they are very tidy, or have an interesting hobby.
