Science and physical impairment at P level 4
The challenges, and suggestions, for physically impaired children in science are the same as those in subjects across the curriculum so read this information first
Science is a practical subject at P levels and beyond so think about how to make all activities accessible and visual
You can
- Try to adapt activities so that the pupil can participate on their own terms – taking part is important for understanding and remembering concepts. Watching someone else is not as effective.
- Try using switch access to show cause and effect
- Use musical instruments or the Skoog for cause and effect too; for controlling sound, and reinforcing the concept of pushing
