Science and physical impairment at P level 8

At P level 8 the pupil makes a contribution to planning, evaluating and recording their findings. They establish the properties of common materials from examples, so will need access to resources. They also sort materials, which may need physical support.

 You can:

  • Use discussion, visual clues and concise and clear questioning to help the pupil participate.
  • Think about modifying practical activities, but discuss this, tactfully, with the pupil first. Suggest solutions that enable the pupil to access activities, for example scaling down an activity to make it within reach, using a remote-control or testing different surfaces, using brushes with longer handles.
  • Use digital photography for the pupil to record results. Involve them in taking the photographs, by remote device if necessary.
