Corporate partners: GlaxoSmithKline

Scope has a three-year partnership with GlaxoSmithKline. The Skills for Life project funded by GSK aims at ensuring young disabled people, especially those individuals with complex needs are empowered to develop essential life skills, which will help them to live as independently as possible in the future.

The Skills for Life project, working with a number of young disabled students at Scope’s Beaumont College encompasses two excellent programmes of support. The Continence Management Programme will provide expert support, training and access to specialist equipment, such as trialing different toilet chairs, with the aim to become 100% continent.

Plan, Shop, Cook is a life skills programme, which ensures college students develop the planning, budgeting and cooking skills they need to be as independent as possible on leaving the college, giving freedom of choice over diet and meal preferences.

GlaxoSmithKline generously sponsored Scope’s Parent Information Pack, aimed at giving parents with disabled children the vital information they need to support their child, right from the start.

On top of supporting these vital projects, many GlaxoSmithKline employees have regularly volunteered at Lingfield Avenue, one of Scope’s services close to their offices in West London.
