What is payroll giving?

Payroll giving is an easy, tax-free way for you to make a regular donation to Scope straight from your salary.

Our helpline Scope Response costs £1 million a year to run and receives no government funding at all. Regular donations will help us provide advice and support to disabled people and their families.

How payroll giving works

The Government gives the charity the tax that it would otherwise have kept. In other words, it lets you give even more at no extra cost to you. For example, if you pay tax at the standard rate and would like to give £5 per month to Scope, you will only pay £4 from your monthly salary. The taxman will add £1 so the total amount received by Scope is £5.

Some employers will also match your gift. This means that Scope will receive double the amount of your donation without you having to do anything.

How your donation can help

"I'm the mum of a three-year-old little boy called Josh who has cerebral palsy. When diagnosed, Josh's dad and I were told a lot of long words, but we weren't given any information that we could take away and digest. Then I was put in contact with Scope Response I talked to them about our problems and my fears for Josh's future. They empathised and gave me loads of practical advice - not just about cerebral palsy but also on our rights. They also arranged for a Scope Response Worker, Jackie, to visit. She's brilliant. And I never forget that the free help we get as a family is paid for by supporters."

By regularly donating money from your salary, we can support people like Emma and Josh. And because it's tax-free your gift will go further.
