Owners, trainers and racing enthusiasts attended Scope’s first-ever charity Race Day at Newbury Racecourse on 13 May 2011.

The charity luncheon began with a Laurent-Perrier champagne and canapés reception on the Pavilion Lawns where there was a special raffle of a beautiful John Boyd ladies hat raising a fantastic sum of £1,300.

Over 200 guests attended the charity luncheon where they took part in a raffle including a star prize of an oil painting, ‘Tacking Up’, by Nicky Leigh, as well as a year’s membership at Guards Polo Club.

After lunch, guests took part in an auction kindly conducted by Charlie Brooks and included a five-day internship on the foreign desk at The Sunday Times, a painting by Katie O’Sullivan and a cooking lesson and day in the kitchen at The Pollen Street Social with Jason Atherton raising over £12,000.

Following an afternoon of racing, guests were joined at tea by Eloise and her family, who benefit from support from one of Scope’s services, Ingfield Manor School.

The event was a huge success, raising over £20,000 for Scope.
