Putting on an event

Events are a great way to get together with friends while boosting your fundraising. There are various things to consider when planning an event so please see our quick guide below:

  1. Ask for help – whether it’s coming up with ideas, helping to organise or selling tickets, ask your friends and family to get involved.
  2. Consider costs – write a budget, detailing how much things will cost, what can be obtained for free and how much you hope to raise.
  3. Venue – think about where you will hold your event. Try to get the venue for free or even have the event at home.
  4. Timing – consider when the best time to hold the event is and how long you need to plan it.
  5. Publicity – promoting your event is crucial; send invitations to friends, family and colleagues by email, Facebook or post.
  6. On the day – think about other opportunities to raise money such as a raffle, an auction or selling cakes.
  7. Keeping it safe and legal – there are a few things you’ll need to bear in mind to ensure your fundraising for Scope runs smoothly, contact the Events Team for more information.
  8. After the event – thank everyone and chase any remaining sponsorship.
